How to Perform Salah

The following are the basic steps on how to perform salah:

Make wudu (ablution).

Stand facing the qiblah (direction of the Kaaba in Mecca).

Raise your hands to your ears and say the takbir (Allahu Akbar).

Recite the opening chapter of the Quran (Al-Fatiha).

Recite another chapter from the Quran.

Bow down (ruku').

Stand up straight (i'tidal).

Prostrate yourself (sujud).

Sit back on your heels.

Repeat steps 8 and 9.

Recite the tashahhud.

Turn your head to the right and say the salam.

Turn your head to the left and say the salam.
